M.I.A - XXXO
It took me a while to stop hating on this song, but when I got past the hate and actually had some faith in my favourite artist, I finally got it. To everyone out there thinking M.I.A is “selling out” or has been “taken over by mainstream music” THINK AGAIN. I’ve said it before, this album ROCKS. So this video isn’t just a shitty music video, it’s an effing parody-making fun of artists who crumble at the hands of major corporations who promise them tons of dough if they go mainstream. It’s hilarious because this song makes fun of talented artists that have turned into pop slaves over the span of their music careers; over played and over payed artists that may have switched over to the “dark-side” at some point. I can’t even count the number of artists that have done this and this song is just a satirical way of pointing it out. She says it herself, “you want me being somebody who I’m really not,” telling it like it is to the media bigheads. Kudos Maya, it took me a while but I’m finally on board with you girl.
